Clearbrook Elementary is a vibrant, community-oriented dual-track school that shines through its Early French Immersion program and strong early learning initiatives, though families must navigate a competitive lottery for specialized tracks and be mindful of its urban neighborhood setting.
Editorial review summary
Parent reviews and community forum discussions highlight Clearbrook Elementary as a highly regarded school, particularly praised for its Early French Immersion program. Parents appreciate the dedicated staff, active Parent Advisory Council (PAC), and strong community events like the Carnaval de Québec. The school's central location is highly walkable to local amenities like the library and recreation center. However, some parents on local forums have expressed safety concerns regarding the surrounding neighborhood (near South Fraser Way) due to visible homelessness and drug use. Additionally, as with many public schools, parents of neurodivergent children note that securing dedicated Education Assistant (EA) support requires strong, ongoing parental advocacy. Admission into the French Immersion track is competitive and requires entering a district lottery, often resulting in waitlists.
