School review information
Vancouver College is a powerhouse of tradition, blending faith, elite athletics, and academic rigor into a unique 'brotherhood' experience. It offers a prestigious private education at a fraction of the usual cost, provided you can navigate the competitive, faith-based admissions.
Editorial review summary
Parents and alumni frequently describe the school as a 'brotherhood' with a deeply ingrained culture of loyalty and tradition. Reviews highlight the incredible value-for-money compared to other elite private schools, given the lower tuition. The 'Fighting Irish' athletic program is a major draw, often cited as a source of school pride. However, some parents note that the admissions process is heavily skewed towards practicing Catholics and sons of alumni, making it difficult for outsiders to gain entry. Recent discussions also acknowledge the school's efforts to modernize facilities while navigating historical reputational challenges.

Common concerns

- Highly competitive entry with limited intake years (mainly Gr 8)

- All-boys environment may not suit every student's social development
- Recent news involves a class-action lawsuit regarding historical abuse (pre-2013)
