School review information
Windebank Elementary is a community-focused school in Mission that provides strong logistical support for families through early learning and childcare programs. However, its consistently low standardized test scores indicate that families prioritizing strong academic performance may need to supplement their child's education or explore other options.
Editorial review summary
Publicly available parent reviews and discussions for Windebank Elementary are very limited. Based on available community signals, parents appreciate the practical support programs offered on-site, such as the StrongStart Centre for early learners and the Club K.I.D.S. before- and after-school care. The active Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is also noted for providing bursaries to alumni. However, historical news from 2016 regarding a former principal's arrest may still appear in search results, though the district addressed the issue immediately at the time.
Common positives
- Hosts a StrongStart Centre for early childhood education.
- Offers the Club K.I.D.S. before and after-school care program, providing convenience for working families.
- Participates in the 'Walking School Bus' program to promote safe, active transportation to school.
- Active Parent Advisory Council (PAC) that supports students and offers alumni bursaries.
Common concerns
- Low academic performance, with a Fraser Institute rating of 3.6/10 and a rank in the bottom tier provincially.
- Historical negative press from 2016 regarding a former staff member may be concerning to some families researching the school.
Who this school may fit
Recommended for local families who highly value on-site childcare (Club K.I.D.S.) and early learning resources (StrongStart), provided they are comfortable supplementing academic learning at home. Not recommended for families seeking top-tier academic rankings.
